Reflections On A Semester

1.  What did you learn about Photography that you did not know before?
I learned that there is an art and method to take good, blurry photographs.  I had previously thought that to take a blurry photo you simply just move the camera while clicking the shutter button.  Another thing I learned that was probably most shocking was the process through which you develop film out of the film cameras.  I hadn't realized that the film was light sensitive and would be ruined if exposed.

2.  What did you learn about yourself this semester?
I guess that one thing I did learn about myself this semester from taking this class is that I do have a creative side and once I had figured it out, I had a blast.  Doing anything were you didn't give us specific guidelines to photograph along was so much fun for me because I had began to realize that if I took pictures of things I liked to do they would turn out unique and unlike anyone else's photographs.

3.  What do you wish we had done that we didn't do?
I wish we could have done a whole unit on photoshopping pictures.  Like adding faces or items into the background or something along those lines.  I really liked using photoshop and I use it in digital arts 2 alot but no for altering photos like we do in here.

4.  What was your struggle?
My greatest struggle with this course was figuring out what to photograph.  You gave us the guidelines, but when I went home and wanted to begin my project I had no idea what I should take pictures of.  I recently figured out though that you did that for a reason and for us to discover what we find interesting and to capture that.

5.  What did you conquer?
I conquered doubting myself.  I would always see those beautifully composed professional photographs and I would think that I would never be able to do that because I am just not talented enough.  As the semester went on though, I began to see the photographs I were taking improve in composition and my doubts slowly faded away until these past few weeks were I have felt completely satisfied in everything I have produced and turned in to you.

Light Project

While conducting this experiment to learn what light doest to photographs, I observed how the light can affect different surfaces.  I discovered how I perceived the light through my eyes and once I looked at the picture on my camera, was not the same way.  It would sometimes turn out with ugly colors or look purely disgusting.  I learned that there is opportunities to observe the beauty of light everywhere and if we would just take a second and observe it, everything would be brighter.
